Prescription Glasses – Change Your Vision and Personal Images

By: Jennie Brown
Posted: Jun 14, 2010

It is an accepted fact that people recognize you by your face. That is why, the prescription glasses you choose to wear becomes a part of your identity as well. Whether you want to appear youthful, fun – loving, sophisticated, and conservative or anything else, the proper eyeglass frame will help you to achieve it.

With the increasing number of online stores dealing in prescription glasses, the options for buyers to choose from have increased tenfold. These prescription glasses offer a myriad of colourful choices and frame materials. Apart from the regular plastic and metal frames, titanium frames are also becoming a favourite among the consumers. These titanium frames offer the strength of the metallic pairs and the weightlessness of the regular acetate frames. Among this huge collection of prescription glasses, obviously, it becomes difficult to choose the ones which will suit you the most. These are few general tips which can be followed to make the selection process easy.

Just like one pair of shoes is not enough for different occasions, similarly it’s better to have more than one pair of prescription glasses. To narrow down your choices, consider what eyewear experts suggest in terms of styling, colour, material and size for various lifestyles.

For serious business men, it’s best to stay with conservative frame shapes and colours, to help build trust and confidence among a wide variety of your business clients and colleagues. One must wear classic shapes such as ovals, rectangles and almonds, in traditional colours like gold, silver, brown, gunmetal and black (avoid bright colours or unusual shapes).

To show your creative side, use modern shapes, such as geometric designs in thicker and larger plastic frames. You can also experiment with unusual colours such as blue, green and purple.

College-goers get a lot more freedom in terms of prescription glasses styling, including eye – catching colours and shapes. With the increase of online shops for prescription glasses, the choices to try bright colours, interesting shapes and designs have increased too.

A busy mom or dad has little time to worry about the latest trends in eyewear. Ovals, upswept rectangles and soft cat – eye shapes are very functional and the perfect choices. Interesting colours also add a touch of fashion.

For the best comfort, performance and safety during weekend hours choose at least one pair of sport sunglasses or sport prescription glasses. Generally, sports eyewears have polarized lens (which reduces the glare) or polycarbonate lenses (which are shatter resistant).

Eye Protection Is Key For Kids Sports: Tips From Defog It Antifog During National Vision Month

Defog It antifog helps stopped fogging so kids put on safety eyewear and keep it on.

Valley View, Ohio (Vocus) May 7, 2010

Of the 2.5 million eye injuries that occur every year, children under 15 years of age account for nearly one-third of all hospital admissions for eye trauma and 43 percent of sports and recreational eye injuries overall. During May, which is Healthy Vision Month, Defog It antifog is emphasizing to parents, coaches and all adults the importance of protecting children’s eyes by following important safety tips.

“Research shows protective eyewear could prevent 90% of the thousands of annual youth sports eye injuries,” says Jodi Groh, Director of Marketing for Nanofilm, maker of Defog It antifog towelettes and liquid. “Use these simple tips to help get kids to put on protective eyewear and keep it on.”

Choose protective eyewear that looks the part. Today there are often more fashionable choices in safety eyewear. Good looks may help children willingly wear their eyewear.
Comfort is important. Eyewear that pinches the nose or straps that slip are handy excuses to put aside eyewear. Take the time to find something that really works.
Make sure fogged eyewear isn’t a problem. Kids will want to take off their eyewear when athletic activity works up a sweat that causes fogging. Temperature can also play a role: the cold of a hockey rink or the July heat of a baseball diamond can cause fogging. An antifog treatment like Defog It can eliminate the problem.
Do you need a strap? It will secure the eyewear during play and help keep them close by during downtime.
*Take the message to coaches, trainers, parents and boosters. It could be time to join the many schools and organizations that have an official recreational eye safety equipment program. Invite health providers or safety experts to explain the hazards and need.

Include eye safety information at sign-ups for sports teams and day camps.
Create a poster to distribute in gyms and sports facilities.

Defog It antifog urges all Americans to participate in National Eye Health Month, which is an outreach program of the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health. There are a variety of educational and promotional materials available at the Healthy Vision 2010 website.

Defog It antifog towelettes and Defog It antifog liquid can provide all-day fog prevention on sports safety eyewear, eyeglasses, sunglasses, and other eyewear. Tested safe for all optics, the formula is used by the military around the world. Buy Defog It towelettes and liquid or find more information at http://www.defogitworks.com and 1-888-ENDS-FOG.

Safety-Focused Sunglasses for Youths

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Buying safety-first sunglasses for your child is a priority this summer, with the sun’s rays as harmful as ever. The top five things to look for in sunglasses for a youth include:

UV protection- this is a must! Don’t buy any sunglasses that do not have a 100% UVA and UVB protection sticker or guarantee on the packaging

Form-fitting and sturdy- eyewear needs to fit the wearer’s face shape to maximize coverage and protection. The frames need to be strong enough to withstand your child’s wear and tear, which with some teens can be especially important.

Tinting- Sunglasses are unique from eyeglasses in that they offer a tinted protection from the sun’s harmful rays. There are various levels of tinting ranging from 70 to 97%. It depends on your environment what type of tinting you should buy, snowy areas, or areas with large expanses of light reflective surfaces require higher tinting to control reflective rays as well as downward rays. Deserts, beaches areas with lots of glass require higher tinting as well.

Comfort and fashion- if you want your child to keep their eyes protected, pay attention to their need to be hip. A quick online search can show you what’s in fashion this season.

Lens quality- don’t skimp when it comes to health. Cheap eyewear is usually manufactured from recycled or low-grade plastic. Ensure your children have the best quality lenses; poor quality lenses can result in eye diseases as well as discomfort and migraines.

Remember that sunglasses are not just fashion accessories or cute toys for children, they are important for prolonging your child’s health and instilling life-long habits of eye protection.
